Advent is about arrival. It’s a season when we remember, commemorate, and celebrate the coming of Jesus. But within the larger context of history it’s important to keep in mind that the arrival of Jesus came on the other side of much waiting. Generations anticipated patiently (and not so patiently) for God’s word to be fulfilled in birth of the Messiah—the long-expected redeemer of God’s people.
